This place has a lot going for it. The fish is fresh, well portioned and cooked to order. The batter is of the light and crispy type, which means you need to finish it while its hot as it gets soggy when cool. Personally, I'd prefer the harder batter type that can hold itself a bit, but its a personal preference kinda thing, and so I won't hold it against them.
Price wise, definitely value for money given the portion, skillfully cooked and fresh fish and cooked to order. I forgot to mention they got variety too; in addition to the common Cod and Haddock, they also got Rock, Plaice, some other fish I can't remember and Scampi. Had they had squid, it would have been a home run.
If you're in the neighborhood, go for it, you won't regret it.
Very good portions and prices. Very nice fish, nice and crispy batter and fluffy fish inside. The chicken was amazing as well. 110% recommended. Thanks ibrahim for your service. Has Halal options , gluten free as well. If your muslim make sure to ask for the halal batter because there are three types of batter.
We decided to go to The Golden Chippy last minute on a Sunday evening and the experience we had did NOT disappoint. It was exactly what we were looking for, fresh fish, crispy chips and great banter with the chef of this lovely family run business. It was excellent to be able to eat outside and observe the safe social distancing rules displayed in this food establishment, following government guidelines. They also had a dog outside which means we will definitely be back with our dog.
We ordered: large cod, battered sausage, curry sauce and 1 gherkin.
I had a large fish, the meal is served with salad and chips.
Best chip shop in London look it up.
