These guys know how to fry fish!! Absolutely the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. A huge portion of fish with a light crispy batter, plus lots of chips and salad. It's served with a delicious homemade tarter sauce on the side, but malt vinegar is also provided. The onion rings are also amazing!! Servers are friendly and helpful.

Golden Chippy is an absolute must-visit for fish and chips lovers! The customer service here is top-notch—friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Now, let’s talk about the food—just wow! The fish (I got haddock) is perfectly battered, golden, and crispy on the outside, while the inside remains incredibly tender and flaky. The chips are thick-cut, lightly crispy on the outside, and soft inside, offering the perfect balance of texture. The fresh salad adds a refreshing touch, making the meal feel light yet satisfying.

One standout is their homemade tartar sauce—it’s absolutely delicious! Creamy, tangy, and perfectly seasoned, it complements the fish beautifully, taking each bite to the next level.

I had a lot of tartar sauce left over, so I decided to order the shrimp scampi, but I wasn’t impressed at all—only because they use small pieces of shrimp. It looks like they cut one whole shrimp into tiny pieces, coat them in heavy dough, and then count that as “one” shrimp. If they had used colossal shrimp, it would’ve been a game-changer. I was really let down by the shrimp.

Every element on the fish and chips plate was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were spot on. If you’re looking for a fantastic fish and chips experience, Golden Chippy is the place to be. The next time I’m in the area, I’m definitely stopping by again.

P.S. the curry sauce is OK!

I highly recommend

Great experience. Food was of great quality and not greasy. My partner gluten free and they were able to make their cod goujans gluten free and myself large cod and chips gluten free. They explained they use the same fryer but they ensure that all oil is drained after cooking the food and they have had no complaints in 19 years. So we gave it a shot and glad we did, the food was second to none and the cod was line caught and tasted fresh and not wet. Batter was crispy and cooked spot on. Spoke to the owner IBO and he is very passionate about how the food is cooked and how customers are well looked after. They do take away and sit down but we sat down to have our meal. Highly recommend 👌

Excellent chippy in Greenwich close between Greenwich and Deptford Bridge DLR stations, and in close proximity to a lot of hotels. Decided to go for fish cakes instead of fish and loved them, very traditional style. Chips and mushy peas were nice. Prices are decent. A little extra for table service. Great chippy!

I’ve tried fish and chips at three different famous restaurants in London, but this place is by far the best! The cod was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and had a super light and crispy batter that was simply divine. The potatoes were just as impressive—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, cooked to perfection. The accompanying salad was fresh and flavorful, a perfect complement to the meal.

The service was outstanding as well. Our waitress was exceptionally kind and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was fast, and everything was served piping hot.

This is hands down the best fish and chips I’ve had in London! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly exceptional meal.
